When it's time to say goodbye.
Saying goodbye to your beloved pet is one of the toughest decisions you will ever have to make and knowing when the time is right is not always easy.
None of us like to think of having to say goodbye, however, there is often a stage in our pets lives where saying goodbye is the kindest and most apporopriate decision/step to make.
You know your pet best and so we will be guided by you in this decision making, the Vet is able to express their professional opinion during these times but are unable to make definitive decisions for you. If you are not sure then a consultation with a Vet would allow you to express your concerns or have any questions answered.
You will be required to sign a form giving consent for euthanasia- this is not a rule devised by us, rather our governing body.
Euthansia is carried out by injecting an overdose of anaesthetic directly into the vein, in order to gain access to this vein the Vet will often have to shave the fur of the front leg and place a cannula. The injection itself is painless but voclaisations may occur as with all anaesthetics due to a brief feeling of dizziness. Pets often pass before the full quantity of the injection is administered.
You will have the option to stay with your pet during euthansia, this entirely your choice and you should not feel guilty if this is not your wish.
After your pet has passed you will be offered either; routine cremation, individual cremation or take your pet home with you. If you are unsure then please let a member of staff know as we will be able to look after your pet until you are ready to decide.
We have used a firm called Cambridge Pet Crematorium for over 40 years and have found them to be faultless in their handling of this delicate job. You can find out more about CPC at their website www.cpccares.com
