Since leaving the European Union, we cannot offer Pet passports, you are now required to obtain an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) . It is essential to plan ahead.
The process of obtaining your AHC is as follows:
- Your pet MUST be micro-chipped to be permanently identified and your pet has to be vaccinated against rabies.
We do NOT currently offer Animal Health Certificates but our reception staff may be able to help advise who can, they will have the latest information for you.
Travelling abroad puts your pet at risk of some exotic and extremely serious diseases. While abroad regularly (at least monthly would be advisable) use a product to kill ticks, and de-worm, get your pet a medicated collar to try and repel sandflies and do NOT allow your pet out at dawn and dusk when most insect biting occurs.
We strongly recommend insurance for both pet and owner whilst abroad.
It can be a bit of a mine field and we always suggest that you contact DEFRA by phone 01228 403600 regarding any pet export or travel plans. Even within Europe requirements differ from country to country.
